The administration of WMA changed largely

IMG_4400The General Assembly of World Master Athletic WMA, was arranged in Lahti on the Non-Competition Day of the World Master Athletic Championships. Jyväskylä got the honor to organize the World Masters Indoor Championships in 2012. The executive director of the Finnish Veterans’ Athletic Association Mr. Vesa Lappalainen was elected as the first vice president of WMA administration.

The administration of WMA changed largely. At a very close voting Mr. Stan Perkins from Australia was elected as the president, and in addition to Mr. Lappalainen, Mr.  Serge Beckers from Belgium was elected as the second vice president. Brian Keaveney from Kanada was the only one elected from the old administration.

Mr. Lappalainen is thanking the help received from the City of Lahti: “The successful organization in Lahti have been a great triumph for me personally as well. The Finnish have once again showed their excellence as a mass event organizers, this is the strength I will aim to utilise in international organization work as well.
