So long winter! – Welcome Championship summer 2009. — Only 3 months to go!

The skiing competitions are now past winter’s snow, and it is time to turn your eyes to the climax of the upcoming summer 2009, the World Masters Athletics Championships here in Lahti. 
The snow at the stadium of the Sport Centre has now almost completely melted, and the green grass is already pushing through the rest of the snow and the covers. There are already preparations for the first kick-offs for the upcoming football season, and of course, the competition venues are being prepared for the athletes and their companions who are arriving in Lahti for the World Masters Athletics Championships in summer 2009.

A lot of work is done in different sectors with accelerating speed, and the arrangements are in good hands. The recruiting process for officials has also picked up speed.
The first two general trainings were organized on 21.3. and 4.4., where we had a great number of participants, altogether approximately 350 officials. In these trainings there was information given out to the officials about the upcoming Championships in general, but also an overview about different tasks in various sectors. Now that the general trainings have been held, it is time to start training the officials to become experts in their own, important, field of duties.
Overall, the Organizing Committee has approximately 800 officials, but applications are still very welcome.
