Preparations for the World Masters Athletics Championships are well in schedule

The technical preparations for the World Masters Athletics Championships have been progressing according to the preplanned schedules.
- We have ordered hammer cages, hurdles, javelins and other competition implements for the upcoming Championships, tells Competition Director Hannu Nurminen. After the Championships in Lahti, the implements will be transferred to the use of the venues surrounding Lahti region.
- Officials’ trainings have started with delightful enthusiasm, rejoices Nurminen. In the first two infos there were 500 officials listening the general information about the Championships and at the judge trainings at the competition sector maybe even achieved a new Finnish Record, 75 new judge license owners.
- Competition sector officials are arriving from Brazil, U.S.A, Sri Lanka, German, Great-Britain and France amongst others.

WILSON KIRWA AS THE AMBASSADOR OF POSITIVITY

Athlete Wilson Kirwa, representing Lahden Ahkera Athletics Club, has agreed to become the ambassador of positivity for the World Championships. – I have received such a good acceptance in Lahden Ahkera after I became a representative for the club.  I want to share the same positive attitude forward, tells Wilson Kirwa.

Wilson Kirwa is hoping to find the positive attitude amongst athletes as well as officials. – I am also hoping positive attitude from Lahti and the whole region towards these athletes arriving to the Championships, exhorts Kirwa. There are numerous competitions on a daily basis, and the last ones will go on until late evening. It would be desirable that restaurants in Lahti kept their doors open for these hungry athletes still wanting to have dinner, says Wilson Kirwa.  
- Let’s welcome the athletes with delight and a positive mind so that they are left with a good image, suggests Wilson Kirwa, who is also working as an official at the Championships.
