THE FIRST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS MARATHON IN LAHTI
Marathon 8^th of August 2009, 9am – 3pm Lahti
This summer in Lahti there will be run a first international Marathon. Marathon is scheduled for the last day of the Championships, 8^th of August 2009. 

The route
The Marathon route starts from the Fellmann Park and goes along the surroundings of the beatiful Lake Vesijärvi. At the Ruoriniemi point the route goes from Laatikkotehtaankatu to Mukkulankatu through Haapalankatu, where it goes towards Merrasjärvi using Vanhatietä and continues past the shopping centre to the Passenger Harbor. Here the route continues towards Jalkaranta using passages; turning point at Monontie. The route comes back to the Fellmann Park using Kuhilaankatu and Jalkarannantie.

This Marathon route offers every runner an unforgettable experience! Also for the citizens it is a unique opportunity to participate in a world champion level marathon in their hometown.

World Championship Marathon Lahti 2009
8^th of August at 9am-3pm

• The temperature is expected to rise for Saturday, so we have ADDED WATER STATIONS for 3,5km /25km (additional stations!)
• At the Marathon route (see the Map) in the fluid stations there is Gatorade sports drink in addition to water and also wet sponges.
• If the temperature is to be expected to rise over 20 Degrees Celcius, there will be 2 showers / round.
• Own drinks and other products such as gel packings need to be brought to to the organizers at least one hour in advance (by 8:00 am) near the call-room. Own drinks will be placed in numeric order by age categories.
• The rules do not forbid the use of portable water bottle / belt or similar during the marathon, but it must be in the person’s possession the whole time either from the start or from the fluid station.  All kind of outside assisting after the call room is strictly prohibited. 
• All use of electronic devices, such as mobile phones, heart rate monitors, cameras, iPods (or other similar) is PROHIBITED. Please leave them already at home or to your car. 
• It is recommended to leave all valuables at home or to your car to prevent any thefts!
• Country specific Service staff at the fluid stations is permitted. 
• Please allow enough time for the call room and be well on-time!
