At the World Masters Athletic Championship’s Closing Ceremony the vice president of the Organizing Committee Mr. Tapani Ilkka and the president of WMA handed the flag over to the next Organizing Committee, the Competition technical director of Sacramento.

The Head Starter for the London Olympics 2012 Mr. Alan Bell shot the final start and the last event at the World Masters Athletic Championships Men 35 – categorie 4 x 400m Relays.

During the final day at the World Masters Athletic Championships, the atmosphere as well as the temperature has been high at the Stadium and the surrounding venues! Teams have been competiting in Relay Events at the Stadium, in both 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m. Women have already concluded their relays for these Championships 2009, Men will be competing at the 4 x 400m still this afternoon.  You can follow the results at the “Result Service” – link.

The Championships will be concluded today at the Closing Ceremony, which will be organized at the Stadium right after the final Award Ceremony.

The thousand-headed group of World Championships marathonists have set off for the Marathon route in Lahti!
The peak has already crossed the finish line with excellent times, the whole trio finished the marathon in 2 ½ hours. The first runner to cross the finish line was the leading runner already at the halfpoint of the race, Mr. Sergei Preminov from Russia (M40 group, photo). Mr. Dennis Walmsley from Great Britain finished second (M45 group) and Mr. Lauri Friari from Finland finished third (M40 group). Congratulations for a great run! Read more »
