The skiing competitions are now past winter’s snow, and it is time to turn your eyes to the climax of the upcoming summer 2009, the World Masters Athletics Championships here in Lahti. 
The snow at the stadium of the Sport Centre has now almost completely melted, and the green grass is already pushing through the rest of the snow and the covers. There are already preparations for the first kick-offs for the upcoming football season, and of course, the competition venues are being prepared for the athletes and their companions who are arriving in Lahti for the World Masters Athletics Championships in summer 2009.

The preparations for the World Masters Athletics Championships are progressing according to the planned schedule. Athletes taking part in the competitions can also choose a private accommodation or school housing, instead of hotel accommodation. Local travel agency Lahti Travel Oy is responsible in accommodation arrangements for WMA2009 Lahti participants.

A stylish podium for the World Masters Athletics Championships 2009

Next summer, the winners of the World Masters Athletics Championships will arise at the podium, which is designed and created as a co-operation project with the Institute of Design from the Lahti University of Applied Sciences. The second year students Isko Lappalainen and Ilkka Kelaranta designed the podium together, in which the surrounding buildings have been taken into consideration.
